It’s hard to know which brands are the best at making you feel like a bath towel is the only thing you need.
But a new survey from bath and body products brand Sitz Bath and Body is shedding some light on that.
The study, published Tuesday in the journal Clinical & Experimental Therapeutics, analyzed how bath products made by Bath & Body fared against products from other companies, including those from Gildan, Kiehl’s, and Target.
It found that Bath &s; Body products were generally good for your body’s overall health, even when they didn’t contain as much sodium as their competitors.
(Seth Wenig/Associated Press)That may not sound like a lot, but the researchers say the results are “important because there is so much variation in the use of bath products across different companies.”
For instance, Bath &ams; Body’s products tended to be more expensive than the other brands, and they often contained less water and less salt than the others.
That may have something to do with the companies’ focus on providing a “bio-enhanced” version of bath water that’s not as acidic as a normal tub of soap.
“Many consumers think that if you want a bath that’s very pure and very luxurious, you should use a product that is high in sodium, but it turns out that there are very few products that do that,” lead study author Lauren D’Agostino, an assistant professor of cosmetic science at the University of California, San Diego, told The Associated Press.
“The results suggest that some products may be better than others for a particular body type or body condition.”
The study was conducted by researchers at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the School for Biomedical Engineering at UC San Diego.
The study was funded by the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation.
