Barca have beaten Roma 1-0 at the Aire ancient baths in Parma, but it is the barca captain, Lionel Messi, who will be in the mood for a change.
The Argentina international has been playing for Barcelona since the age of five and scored the opening goal of the 2-2 draw at the Stadio Olimpico on Tuesday.
The Catalan club, who were without a win in their last five away games, have won their last nine in all competitions.
Messi, who has also been the subject of criticism for the club’s lack of spending, has been praised for his work rate on the pitch.
“I feel very happy.
It’s very important that Messi is back and ready to play again,” Barca’s head of sport, Marco Silva, said.”
He’s done very well in the past.
He’s been involved in every single match in which he’s been in the starting line-up.
It’s a very important game for us, because we’re not at home yet, but we are on the road.”
In the first half, Barca did well to hold off Roma, but once they went behind it was a different story.
Roma started the second half with more pressure on them, but they could not find a way past the visitors, who dominated possession.
Barcelona went into the break with six men, but with eight minutes left, Messi’s cross found the feet of Gerard Pique and he scored the third goal of his career.
After the break, Barça began to play much more confidently and it was not long before they found the net again.
Messi has scored six goals in his last six La Liga games and the goals came as a result of his outstanding work rate and the fact that he has been at the heart of Barca.
His goalscorer is expected to continue to be an important factor for Barca this season and the team has scored four goals this term.
Barcelona are second in the table with 17 points, two ahead of third-placed Sevilla.
